The badgers travelled away to Doncaster in good spirits after their last away win. With a few new faces they started where they left off in their last game.
From pushback the York midfield and attack were pressing the Doncaster defence and not giving them a moment. Isaac, Thea, Nina and Izzy were running the Doncaster midfield ragged and passing between themselves to create some early chances. York were unlucky not to be ahead, Alf hitting the post and having 2 disallowed goals. One of the disallowed goals saw the Doncaster umpires having mixed opinions and in Alf’s own words ”I haven’t got a clue why that didn’t count!”. After this press, Doncaster started to find their feet, only to find the rest of the York midfield and defence standing strong. Simon, Garry, James and Elaine sweeping up and moving the ball out effectively. Annie and Oliver stood strong and did not let anything get past them. A quiet start to the game for Jackson who looked comfortable when he was called into action. York rallied and created more chances with Doncaster’s defence holding on and their keeper making some great saves. Finally York’s pressure paid off with a well taken goal by Izzy. York were on top and with the midfield playing so well it wasn’t long before another goal came along. A lovely run down the wing by Nina and a amazing reverse hit cross into the D to find Thea who slotted it home past the helpless keeper
Half time 2:0 to the badgers.
The second half started with the Doncaster adults stepping up their game, playing the ball around from side to side creating chances for the Doncaster forwards. All of the York defence fought hard with Jackson being much busier making some fantastic saves and kick outs. The York midfield and forwards continued to work hard with some fantastic interplay between themselves. This resulted with a ball through to Isaac who played it through the keepers legs for a very well taken goal. This is how it finished.
Match ending in a 3:0 win to the Badgers. Great individual performances and fantastic teamwork across the whole team. Player of the match awarded to Oliver, the Doncaster forwards couldn’t get the ball past him and he was outstanding throughout.
