On a cold and wet Saturday morning, 11 of the City of York L5 Yaks transferred zoos to take on the Slazenger sloths. Due to a few escapees who slinked off on holiday the York Yaks had a lot of fighting to do!
A stampede start as York shot at the feed bowl multiple times but their gorilla goalie was whacking those balls away like King Kong.
Slazenger sloths (who played up to their new nickname, sturdy but slow) couldn’t keep up with the York midfielder as they ran like gazelles connecting some great passes onto the forwards. Feeding time began as the score sat at 0-0.
Onto the second half, the Slazenger sloths came back on a rampage and after trampling goalie Maddie the moose to the floor they got their first goal. A quick turn around for York as they galloped like horses back towards the stable, captain Lyd stamped her hoofs and scored one back for York after a nice assist from Pip the puppy. Our defenders battled like a pack of hyenas to defend York's goal, transferring the ball back to the pack of lions in the middle. Forman the ferret and Izzy the iguana worked together to intercept the ball. Unfortunately the York Yaks were tiring like mice running from a group of cats, with the score ending 4-1 to the sloths.
MOM- Annie the artic fox the youngest of the pack, for her fierce and determined defending
DOD- Lyd the Llama for more reasons than it’s worth writing.
