City of York L5s gain another celebratory win on a very warm Saturday afternoon in York against Leeds Adel 4s.
A happy start sent York into the game attacking from the get go, like kids opening their presents on Christmas Day morning! Passing the parcel (aka the ball) from defence through the width to the mids and onto the strikers. The sun was beaming down like a bonfire on the 5th of November.
The heat and sun beamed down on the defence as Adel approached Maddie, who saved their shots on target with her lightning reactions! Birthday girl Wiggy ran like the wind as though she was chasing a bottle of Prosecco as a birthday treat, Forman not far behind (any excuse for a celebration drink).
35 seconds prior to the half time whistle Adel's goalie saved Helen's strike as it beamed back to Lydia (an April fool) who took a clean swing from the top of the D - it hit the back board that quick it almost tricked the goalie into thinking we hadn’t scored! York finished the 1st half in the lead.
The second half began, and Adel were hunting for a goal, like the Easter bunny hunting for eggs! But Adel couldn’t crack York's defence who were ‘eggcellent’.
The finial whistle blew as Adel had a short corner, the tension was high but fear nothing…Annie cleared that Adel strike as quick as a party popper and Adel didn’t have time to react! York celebrated with cheers!
